Swaralaya has processes in place to ensure records of your personal information remain accurate, complete and up to date, including by verifying the information with you each time you use the Services, and from other sources.

If you learn that personal information, we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete or not up to date, please contact Swaralaya so we can promptly update our records.

How do we collect your personal information?

Personal information may be collected when you, or someone on your behalf, contact Swaralaya via our Website or Help Desk to access or request information on services, send an email, fax, letter or complete an online or paper form.

By providing your personal information to us (including any information about you, e.g., your contact details), you are consenting to Swaralaya collecting, using, disclosing and handling that information as described in this Privacy Policy. Do you have to identify yourself?

Providing your personal details enables Swaralaya to provide you with an Online Account which allows you, and other authorised persons, to retrieve information/access at a later date.

If you choose not to provide your personal information when you call Swaralaya Help Desk, the full range of Services available to you may not be offered.

Swaralaya also record information about courses/training to be provided to you in the future or your wishes about the future access of training courses.

Swaralaya may collect personal information about you from a third party in order to provide you with the services you need. For example, this may be from another music school. Swaralaya may also collect information about you from a family member, friend or other person who contacts us on your behalf.

If Swaralaya collects your personal information from someone else, reasonable steps will be taken to:

  • confirm you have consented to us collecting your personal information; and
  • let you know that personal information has been collected.

If you disclose another person’s personal information to us, in providing that personal information to us you agree that:

  • you have drawn this Privacy Policy to that person’s attention.
  • that person has agreed to you providing their personal information to us; and

  • Provide and administer the Courses, including to display customized content and facilitate communication with other learners.
  • Process your requests and orders for courses, products, specific services, information, or features.
  • Communicate with you about your account by:
    • Responding to your questions and concerns.
    • Sending you administrative messages and information, including messages from instructors and student support managers notifications about changes to our course delivery.
    • Sending you information, such as by email or text messages, about your progress in courses, new services, new features, promotions, newsletters, and other available courses (which you can opt out of at any time).
  • Manage your account preferences.
  • Facilitate the Services’ technical functioning, including troubleshooting and resolving issues, securing the Services, and preventing fraud and abuse.
  • Gather feedback from students.
  • Market and administer surveys and promotions administered by Swaralaya.
  • Learn more about you by linking your data with additional data through third-party data providers or analysing the data with the help of analytics service providers.
  • Identify unique users across devices.
  • Tailor advertisements across devices.
  • Improve our Services and develop new courses, services, and features.
  • Analyse trends and traffic, track purchases, and track usage data.
  • Advertise the Services on third-party websites and applications.
  • As required or permitted by law; or
  • As we, in our sole discretion, otherwise determine to be necessary to ensure the safety or integrity of our users, employees, third parties, the public, or our Services.

Who your personal information may be shared with?

Swaralaya may share your information with Instructors & our Student Support managers involved in organising the courses for each student.

We may share your data with third parties under the following circumstances or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy:

  • With Your Instructors: We share data that we have about you with instructors or student support managers for courses you enrol in or request information about, so they can improve their courses for you and other students. This data may include things like your contact number, address (for identifying the time zone) etc.
  • With Other Students and Instructors: Depending on your settings, your shared content and profile data may be publicly viewable, including to other students and instructors. If you ask a question to an instructor or student support managers, your information (including your name) may also be publicly viewable by other users depending on your settings.
  • Third Party Companies: We share your data with third-party companies who perform services on our behalf, like payment processing, fraud and abuse prevention, data analysis, marketing and advertising services (including retargeted advertising), email and hosting services, and customer services and support. These service providers may access your personal data and are required to use it solely as we direct, to provide our requested service.
  • With Analytics: Our website uses Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google servers in the United States. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. We use reports provided by Google Analytics to help us understand website traffic and webpage usage.
    By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner described in Google’s privacy policy (external site) and for the purposes set out above. You can access and update your personal data that Swaralaya collects and maintains as follows:

  • To update data you provide directly, log into your account and update your account at any time.
  • To terminate your account:
    • If you are a student, visit your profile settings page and follow the steps to delete your account. 
    • If you have any issues terminating your account, please contact Swaralaya Help Desk.
    • NOTE: Even after your account is terminated, some or all of your data may still be visible to others, including without limitation any data that has been (a) copied, stored, or disseminated by other users (including in course comment); (b) shared or disseminated by you or others (including in your shared content); or (c) posted to a third-party platform. Even after your account is terminated, we retain your data for as long as we have a legitimate purpose to do so (and in accordance with applicable law), including to assist with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We may retain and disclose such data pursuant to this Privacy Policy after your account has been terminated.

For your protection, we may require that the request be sent through the email address associated with your account, and we may need to verify your identity before implementing your request. How do we protect your personal information?

Swaralaya takes appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal data that we collect and store. Your password is an important part of our security system, and it is your responsibility to protect it. You should not share your password with any third party, and if you believe your password or account has been compromised, you should change it immediately and contact Swaralaya Help Desk with any concerns.
